Welcome to Thali! These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Thali's mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Platform").

By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you are prohibited from using the Platform.

1. Description of Service

Thali is a hyperlocal restaurant discovery platform designed to solve the invisibility problem of neighborhood dhabas, hidden culinary gems, and local dining spots in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.

Our Platform provides information, menus, verified ratings, daily specials, and promotional offers to help customers discover physical dining establishments.

Crucial Notice: Discovery Platform Only

Thali is **strictly a discovery service**. We do NOT handle online food ordering, food delivery, table reservations, live tracking, or transactions between diners and restaurants. All dining transactions take place directly between you and the respective physical restaurant.

2. User Registration & Accounts

To access certain features of the Platform (such as following restaurants, bookmarking dishes, creating dish alerts, or posting reviews), you must register for an account using Firebase Authentication:

  • Account registration requires a valid phone number, verified via secure One-Time Password (OTP).
  • You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete registration information.
  • A single account can switch roles between Customer mode and Restaurant Owner mode (for registered owners). You are responsible for all activity under your account.

3. Terms for Restaurant Owners

If you register as a Restaurant Owner and list an establishment on the Platform:

  • Verification: Onboarding is minimal (name, phone, location). Listed accounts undergo manual verification and activation by the Thali operations team.
  • Accuracy of Listings: You are solely responsible for keeping your profile updated, including correct address, opening hours, prices, veg/non-veg status, and walk-in wait times.
  • Menu & Specials Management: You agree to list accurate pricing for your static base menu and daily specials. Daily specials must reflect actual real-time availability.
  • Content License: By uploading photos to your restaurant's gallery, you grant Thali a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and promote your images on our Platform.

4. Verified Reviews & Ratings

To maintain review integrity, customers can only submit ratings and written reviews by physically scanning a unique in-restaurant QR code.

  • Reviews must reflect genuine personal dining experiences. False, defamatory, or promotional reviews are strictly prohibited.
  • Under the current MVP, reviews are one-way: restaurant owners cannot reply to customer reviews.
  • Thali reserves the right to remove or moderate any reviews that violate our community standards or are suspected of bypassing QR code verification.

5. Subscriptions & Billing

While the basic features of Thali are free, we offer a paid Premium tier for Restaurant Owners (which includes promoted listings, branded profile pages, custom QR menus, and search priority).

  • Fees: Premium subscription is billed as a flat monthly fee.
  • Cancellations & Refunds: Subscription fees are non-refundable. You can cancel your subscription at any time, and you will retain premium access until the end of your billing cycle.

6. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee the correctness of restaurant-reported menu prices, wait times, allergen warnings, or operating status.

In no event shall Thali, its founders, or employees be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your use of the Platform, including quality of food, services, or experiences encountered at listed restaurants.

7. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.

8. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new terms on this page. Your continued use of the Platform after changes have been published constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
